Greek Orthodox bishop denounces new taxes on church as hostile.The Church of Greece, one of the country’s biggest owners of prime real estate, has until now been largely exempt from taxes even though the state pays priests’ salaries.A spokesman for the church, which owns a 150 million euro stake in National Bank of Greece, declined to comment on its income or the new tax bill which is expected to go to parliament on Monday and enter force as soon as it is adopted.

The tremendous material wealth of the religious institutions, what may be left of it after the looters take what they want by force, will be expropriated by the political governments in their dire financial straits.Tax exemption for religious organizations will be discontinued.

The US president is cutting down the Holy Scriptures calling the sermon on the mount "radical". He was correct in one point-The divided "Christian faith" by not adhering to Biblical truth and promoting traditions of men has factions such as "James Dobson's view and Al Sharpton's view"...Obviously not Jesus Christ's view.

WOW! The Fall of Babylon the Great!

He didn't mention the buzz phrase "peace and security" at all and I don't think that was the point of his speech. I just see him playing the game of trying to keep his "Christian" fellows happy while at the same time trying to appease the non-Christian voters. It's a fine line he's walking.

I guess I missed the part where he described religion as "a divisive force against peace and security"... You might want to consider renaming the title. On a side note, wow, what a poor public speaker he is. It seemed as though he had never seen this speech before he delivered it.
